The Raven Queen emerged as a fictional deity in the rich tapestry of Dungeons and Dragons lore, making her debut in 2008 with the release of the 4th edition. However, her presence gained even more prominence in 2016 during episode 44 of Campaign 1 of Critical Role, a celebrated epic in the world of ttrpg storytelling.

Who is the Raven Queen today?

Beyond the pages of fiction and the pixels of virtual campaigns, the Raven Queen transcends her origins. In the realm of modern spirituality, particularly among some pagans, the belief persists that everything, including works of fiction, has a basis in reality. If you can conceive it or dream it, it holds the potential to be a living truth. Embracing this notion, and as a homage to my Scottish ancestry, I recognize the Raven Queen as more than a mere fictional character.
